The message inside the CD cover reads...
For early settlers of Appalachia, life was hard. The struggles of day-to-day survival required work from sunup to sundown, with little time for leisure. Their art bore the stamp of the practical-- quilts, rugs, pottery, and baskets. Their music was simple-- songs and hymns, sometimes with a guitar or another hand-fashioned instrument, sometimes without any instruments at all. In the midst of their struggles, they sang from a heart of faith their songs of longing for heaven and rest at last. Canaan to them was the promise of God to take them to a land of milk and honey. Like the people of Israel, they were wanderers to their journey home.

BRIGHT CANAAN is a collection of hymns and spiritual songs in the style and spirit of those times. In the midst of our struggles today, this timeless music reminds us that we, like them, seek a place :which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God" (Hebrews 11:10). This world is not our final home.

It is our prayer that this recording will encourage you on your spiritual journey, and, if you do not know Christ as Savior, that you will begin your journey with Him today.
