The message inside the CD cover reads...
Christina Lee Marshall, commonly known as Nina, started studying piano in 1988. After several years, she took up violin as well. In 1997, she became interested in the harp, but before she could learn to play, she needed to acquire one. She couldn't afford a harp. Her dad, Neil, planted an idea in her heart... "If you find plans, I will help you build a harp," he said. Her mom, Jeanne, reminded him of a statement that he made when Nina was 12: "If you win that essay contest for that quartet horse foal, I will build you a barn." Later that year, he was building a barn, as she really did win that horse! Nina did find harp plans. Her dad then designed and, with the help of the whole family, built a sawmill to mill the walnut tree that was in the backyard. In 1998, she completed her first harp. She decorated it with horse carvings, paintings, and even carved horse's hooves for the feet. Since building her first harp, she has made several others, both for sale and for rent. She has been performing professionally since 1999 and is currently maintaining a studio of approximately 30 students. She arranged all of the songs on this CD.

About Christina Lee Marshall (from www.ninasmusic.com )...

Christina Lee Marshall

In 1981 I was born in Illinois, I was the first of four kids that my parents, Neil and Jeanne, born and raised. I began to study piano at 7 years old. Most people know me as Nina. I studied with teachers from both IL. and AR. I learned piano technique, performance, and my favorite...Theory!  I started Violin when I was 15. I have played my violin for weddings, recitals and have been a member of an orchestra as well as small ensemble groups. Harp became an interest when I turned 17.

Picture Of Christina Marshall Playing The Harp

In 1997 I seen a picture of a harp...I thought "WOW! wouldn't that be neat to play?" I did some reasearch on harps and quickly found out that they were too expensive for my family or myself. My Dad suggested that I make one so that's what I decide to do. I did another research on harps only this time on building them!

My Dad, Neil, built a sawmill from scratch to saw up a dead Black Walnut tree in the backyard so I could have the wood. We heat our house with wood so our first 'kiln' was in the house by the woodstove! Did you know that when you dry Oak in the living room it stinks? We found out the hard way!  In 1998 my first 36 string lever harp was completed. I started getting calls a month later with people wanting me to perform and tell my story, I quickly realized that I had better learn the harp well and fast as these nice people were waiting on me to perform!

I now perform professionally on my harp. I  have done countless weddings, dinners, and a few funerals. I even do skits for schools and libraries with all my harps! I build harps to rent and sell. They find new homes as fast as I can build them!

I maintain a large private studio ranging from 30-35 students. I teach Harp, Piano, and Violin. I have yearly recitals and ensemble groups for my students. My Students' ages range from 3-63!

In my spare time, I love to arrange music. I was trained to arrange by one of my piano teachers. Since there seemed to be a demand in lever harp arrangements that is where I am currently putting my arranging efforts. I have completed my first professional recording of my arrangements! It is now available for all my customers Click on the 'recordings' page for more information!

I am now working on CD number 2! The CD will be Christmas music with harp, voice, and some cello!

My future business goals are to continue teaching music, perform, maintain and grow this fairly new site and perform on my harp for orchestras....I must get a pedal harp before I can manage that goal!
