Deanna Marie Tomlinson -- Unto Us
About Deanna Marie Tomlinson (from the CD
insert of Mindful Of Him)... After 4 years of diligent work learning the piano, Deanna and her family an annual home school conference in Harrisburg, PA. At the conference, Deanna had a favorite booth, "Marini Made Harps." She spent most of her time there watching Dena and Joanna Marini demonstrate the instruments. After some preliminary instruction, she was given the opportunity to try playing a harp. Because she already had some musical training, the harp came naturally for her. From this point forward, she began saving her money for a harp of her own. Two years had passed, and at the age of 11, after having saved everything she could earn, she had enough set aside to make a sizable contribution to the purchase of a harp. Noting her commitment and determination, her parents decided that it was time to order one. In February of the year 2000, the Marini's provided a rental harp while Mr. Marini custom made Deanna's harp. By September of that year, she was playing her very own harp. A short time later, she began playing music at nursing homes and banquets. This allowed her to have an opportunity to become accustomed to being in front of people. Over the years, she has gained experience by performing for churches, banquets, tearooms, orchestras, choirs, weddings, receptions, funerals, community events, and assisted living centers throughout several states. Deanna continues to study piano and harp. More recently, she has been learning violin and voice. She has also written, recorded, and performed several Christian songs. Deanna was 15 years old at the time of this recording. She is excited to see what other plans the lord has for her as she serves and worships Him with the musical abilities He has given her. (As of March 2005) Deanna has 4 siblings, one of which is serving in the US Air Force. She currently resides with her family on a farm in Kentucky. The message inside the CD cover reads... Having been previously diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and now to the point that she was having difficulty breathing, my mother was transported to the hospital. Knowing that her time near, out family joined together to be with her in her room. She had always enjoyed family time singing together. So we gathered around her bed this night to sing for her. Our youngest sister started us out with the hymn "Silent Night". We sang to her softly and slowly." "Silent Night! Holy Night! All is calm; all is bright, round yon Virgin Mother and Child! Holy infant, so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace." "As we sang, "Sleep in heavenly peace", my mother drifted into heavenly peace." Thank you Miss Grace for sharing your testimony with me. I have pleasant thoughts of you every time I hear this hymn. As you experience this Christmas season and the New Year ahead, I hope that this CD will help you to remember that silent, Holy Night when God sent His Son, Jesus Christ 'Unto Us', that we might live in eternity with Him.
